This is a deeply moving antique book find. The set is two Catholic prayer books distributed to soldiers during WWI and WWII.
Catholic Prayer Book
The full title reads: “Catholic Prayer Book for the Army and Navy” followed by a cross. Beneath the cross is the Latin “Pro Deo Et Patria” or “ For God and Country”.
The book contains the Ordinary of the Mass in English with the Latin responses as well as many other prayers. Of particular note is the last series of prayers:

Prayer Before Action
Prayer for Those at Sea
Prayer for Our Soldier Comrades

My Military Missal
This missal was edited by Father Stedman and is dated 1942. It contains the Ordinary of the Mass in English, the Easter Sunday Mass, The Mass for the Dead, as well as a catechism review and many other prayers. The last page has a world mass clock for those unable to attend mass to unite their prayers anytime of the day. Also, the back cover is an embossed rosary.
It is easy to imagine the comfort these booklets brought to soldiers at war. Wonderful.
Condition: The staples are slightly rusty but the pages are still tightly bound.

This is a stunning antique prayer book. The full title reads: “The Garden of the Soul A Manual of Catholic Devotion, of Spiritual Exercises and Instructions for Christians Who, Living in the World, Aspire to Devotion”. The book is 621 pages and contains many prayers, devotions for confession, holy communion, the ordinary of the mass and much, much more.
The book is bound in celluloid with a beautiful decorative silver inlay on the cover and gilded page edges. There is no publishing date given but the first year in the Table of Movable Feasts is 1878.
Condition: The latch is broken and the end pages are flaking along the edges.Please see pictures.
This is a vintage publication on Catholic teaching. It is a booklet that discusses the Catholic arguments against contraception. It is presented in the format of the Baltimore Catechism with questions put forth followed by the Church’s answers. This was published in 1949 well before the encyclical Humanae Vitae (Pope Paul VI, 1968) proving that this is a long-standing church teaching.
This rare vintage prayer book is in excellent condition. The full title is “Paroissien Romain Tres-Complet” and it contains many daily prayers, litanies, prayers for confession and communion, as well as the Mass in Latin with the propers for feast days and all Sundays from Christmas through Pentecost.
The book is bound in black leather with gilded pages and decorative detailing. It has 1094 pages with many illustrations.
Condition: The binding is still tight but the cover corners show wear. Please See Pictures.
This is a wonderful antique book on Catholic moral theology. The full title is “Moral Theology or Resolution of Cases of Consciousness According to Sacred Scripture, Canons, & the Holy Fathers”. This is volume 7 (out of 8). It is written in French and is a total of 560 pages long.
The book is bound in soft leather over board with a gilded decorative spine. The pages have yellowed somewhat with age, but they are still firmly bound. All in all, it is in excellent condition.
This is a rare vintage Catholic Prayer book. The title in German is “Ehre Sei Gott” or “Glory Be To God’. It includes the propers of the mass in German and Latin for all Sundays and feasts of the year as well as many other prayers, devotions, and songs.
There is no publishing date but the calendar of moveable feasts starts in 1953. The covers are leather with gilded page edges.
Condition: The first page is torn with on old repair. Please See Pictures.
This is a beautiful antique book print of the famous statue of Saint Peter on his throne by Arnolfo di Cambio (1245-1302). It is a chromo lithograph with the bronze statue colored a subdued gold. It was originally bound in the German Encyclopedia Brockhaus' Konversations-Lexikon (14th ed.) 1896–1908.
Condition: There is some foxing. Please see pictures.

The cover shows a beautiful image of Christ holding a chalice and giving communion to a young girl. The small book slips into a matching case that has carrying straps.

The French title is “Petite Paroissien Pour Enfants Orne De Magnifiques Gravures Coloriees” or “Little Prayer Book for Children Adorned with Beautiful Colored Engravings.” It is 96 pages long and includes many prayers, including the Holy Mass, confession, the stations of the cross, and the rosary.
The cover shows a beautiful image of Christ holding a chalice and giving communion to a young girl with two small angels watching. The small book slips into a matching case that includes carrying straps.
This is a vintage, pocket-sized devotional book. The French title is “Petit Paroissien Romain Contenant L’Office Des Principales Fetes et Les Evangiles de Tous Les Dimaches” or “ The Little Roman Missal Containing the Major Feasts and Sunday Gospels.” The book is 254 pages and contains all a devout Catholic might need for daily practice: morning prayers, evening prayers, prayers at mass, ordinary of the mass, devotions for confession, holy communion, and much, much more.
The book is bound in celluloid with a beautiful image of Christ giving holy communion on the cover and gilded page edges.
Condition: The back cover has some discoloration. Please see pictures.
This is a gorgeous antique Catholic prayer book. The full title is “Alleluia Nouveau Recueil de Prieres et de Pieux Exercices” or “Alleluia New Collection of Prayers and of Pious Exercises.” It includes daily prayers, the Holy Mass, several litanies, the Rosary, and the Stations of the Cross. The imprimatur is dated 1907.
The covers are embossed with a beautiful decorative Host and Chalice. They are early celluloid, also known as Ivorine, and have a matching latch closure.
This is a remarkable pair of vintage religious bookends. One depicts an image of Christ with His Sacred Heart exposed, while the other shows Our Lady revealing her Immaculate Heart. This set is made of beautifully burnished copper with felt lining on the backs.
Condition: The felt backing is peeling a bit on one bookend, but this could be easily repaired. Please see pictures.
