    This is a beautiful antique lace holy card. The image is a detailed lithograph showing Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Before them is a bowing woman with a small child hiding behind her robes. Above Our Lord is an angel carrying a chalice and host. Domine, Non Sum Dignus! / Lord, I am not worthy! is written in Latin above the image, while the full prayer is printed in French beneath: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.”

    The caption reads “I am the Resurrection and the Life. He that believeth in me although he be dead, shall live” and “ All Easter Blessings be yours”. Beautiful.

    This is a beautiful antique lace holy card. It is an image of a boy kneeling before the altar. The tabernacle door is open showing a young Jesus sitting on a bed of straw as if in the manger. The caption reads “Souvenir of Holy Communion” in English as well as German.

    This beautiful prayer is on the reverse:

    “O Lord, in the simplicity of my heart, with a good and firm faith, I come to Thee with hope and reverence; and I do verily believe that Thou art present in the Sacrament. God and man.”

    This is a wonderful antique holy card. It is an image of Saint Francis Xavier baptizing a convert. The card includes information about membership in the Association of the Propagation of the Faith, including indulgences gained on behalf of the souls in Purgatory. Saint Francis Xavier was a co-founder of the Society of Jesus, known as the Jesuits. He is renowned for his missionary work in Asia and is the patron saint of missions and missionaries. Feast Day: December 3.

     

    Condition: There is some minor discoloration from age, and three corners have been clipped. Please see pictures.

    This is a wonderful, vintage religious keepsake. The prayer card is set on an embellished paper background with beautifully embroidered edges and a sweet pink ribbon. The card is encased in plastic and is still attached to the original gift card backing. The prayer reads:

    “Blessing of St. Francis

    The Lord bless thee and keep thee.

    The Lord show His face to thee and have mercy on thee.

    The Lord turn His countenance to thee and give thee peace. Amen.”

    The back has a handwritten note in ink: “Speedy Recovery. Aug. 6, 1960. Best Wishes Always, Sonya”.
