This is a fantastic vintage religious find. It is a case containing everything needed for a sick call visit, as well as a few personal items. This set contains a crucifix, 2 candle holders, a holy water bottle, a linen napkin, 2 plates/platters, a spoon, and directions.
Last Rites/Sick Call sets: These sets were used in Catholic homes to store the items needed by a priest for the anointing of the sick and for extreme unction. The only items necessary for these rites are a crucifix, blessed candles, and holy water. However, many sets commonly held additional items such as cotton for the oil, a linen cloth, a spoon, and a plate. Often, personal items were stored with the set, such as rosaries, holy cards, devotional items, and prayer books.
Condition: The leather is damaged in some places, and the silver finish is dulled. Please see pictures.
