This is an elegant statue of the Infant Child Jesus of Prague. The Infant’s expression is serene with rosy cheeks and radiant blue eyes. His robes are cream colored satin with sparkling faux gems along the front panel. His opulent cape features matching satin on the outside but rich blue brocade beneath and silver filigree lace trim. Beneath the gowns, the statue is adorned with a simple white robe.
Condition: It is rare to find an Infant of Prague statue in such good condition. There are no chips on the face, but there are a few on the fingers. Both crosses are still intact. Please see pictures. The base still carries the original tag: “Columbia Statuary Made in Italy”.
This is a beautiful vintage religious pendant. It is an image of Michelangelo’s famous Pieta sculpture. The Madonna is shown sitting with Christ’s limp body draped across her lap after having been brought down from the cross. Very moving.
Condition: We were told this is 925 Sterling but it is unmarked.
This fantastic Last Rites set is made entirely from beautiful rich brown Bakelite. It is designed to be hung on the wall next to a bed, ready in case of need. The set contains 2 matching bakelite candle holders, a glass holy water bottle, an additional small crucifix, 2 beeswax candles, a linen cloth and piece of cotton (both in the original waxed paper bags), and a booklet.
The book, titled “Sacred Service” has an imprimatur dated 1931. It provides direction on how to prepare for sick calls as well as Extreme Unction. Included are many helpful prayers and a section on “Helping the Dying in the Absence of a Priest”. Fantastic.
These boxes were used in Catholic homes to store the items needed by the priest for the Anointing of the Sick and for Extreme Unction. The only items necessary for these rites are a crucifix, blessed candles, and holy water. Many sets, though, would have additional items such as cotton for the oil, and a linen cloth, a spoon, a plate and prayer books. Some would store personal keepsakes such as rosaries and holy cards, as well.
Condition: There is a crack on one corner but the hinge is still very tight. Please See Pictures.
