This is a rare vintage sick call set with a 1960s modern design. The crucifix is extremely simple, and Christ looks emaciated. The lid opens to reveal a small container with unused candles, a plastic holy water container, and a ball of cotton.
These boxes were used in Catholic homes to store the items needed by a priest for the anointing of the sick and for extreme unction. The only items necessary for these rites are a crucifix, blessed candles, and holy water. However, many sets often held additional items such as cotton for the oil, a linen cloth, a spoon, a plate, and prayer books. Some would store personal keepsakes such as rosaries and holy cards, as well.
This is a beautiful vintage devotional wall plaque. The Blessed Virgin Mother is shown holding a young Christ in her arms. Our Lady is holding Jesus in both hands with a bouquet of roses in the crook of her arm. So Sweet.

This piece has a matt finish with green patina highlighting the details. The reverse is painted gold and there are two holes to allow mounting.
