Saint Brigid

Saint Brigid lived in Ireland c. 451 – 525. She was a disciple of Saint Patrick’s and was known for her love of the poor.  Many of her acts of charity involved the provision of milk, butter, or even cattle to poor people who sought her help. Saint Brigid was the foundress of several monasteries including the well known monastery of Kildare. She is the patron saint of Ireland, poets, dairymaids, blacksmiths, healers, cattle, fugitives, Irish nuns, midwives, and new-born babies. Feast Day: February 1.
